Rehabilitation in the port of Antwerp

Situation

One of the most important culverts, running approximately 17 m under the river Schelde in the port of Antwerp, had several leakages due to faulty connections of the pipe. The culvert is installed in a concrete siphon with a diameter of 3 m. To maintain the water supply to the industrial estates in the port and because of the limited accessibility to the pipeline, the client decided to renovate the main with a trenchless method.

Special features

Removal of welding seams

Prior to Primus Line® installation, the host pipe was CCTV-inspected two times to make sure that there were no welding seams.

Debris removal

To remove the debris out of the pipe after cleaning, a gap between two pipe shots had been created at the low point of the pipe.
