The pipelines are densely packed together under a busy single carriage way, one of which is the DN 700 water pipeline in need of rehabilitation. PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, was faced with the challenge of further ensuring the security of supply of the cement-lined steel pipeline by renewing it.
Pipe leaks on water mains are usually fixed using a conventional open cut and repair method. However, with more new underground services, e. g. MRT stations, telecommunications networks, etc., laid in close proximity to water mains in recent years, future repair with open cut is getting more difficult and challenging due to the risk of damaging such underground services. The open cut method would also cause more disruptions and lane closures to the surrounding roads.
PUB opted for the rehabilitation of the potable water main with Primus Line®, a flexible composite lining solution for the trenchless rehabilitation of pressurised pipelines. For areas with high-traffic, limited working space and multiple bends, Primus Line® is a perfect solution. It can be installed next to live underground services. In addition, there is minimal disruption to the traffic as the space required on the construction site is reduced to a minimum.
