Double containment
Some substances pose a considerable hazard for the environment. Nevertheless, pipeline transport is sometimes unavoidable.
However, safety requirements in such cases are particularly high. In order to fulfill them, the “double containment” approach is recommended. The concept can be simply described as a “pipe in a pipe”. If the inner pipe is damaged, there is another pipe around that collects any leaking fluids and prevents them from escaping into the environment.
Primus Line® offers numerous advantages over conventional pipes in this field of application. Installing the liner in a pressure pipeline is easier and faster. Lengths of up to 2,500 metres in one pull are possible, even in line routings with bends of up to 90 degrees.
Its reinforcement made of aramid fabric makes the liner self-supporting and it accommodates the entire operating pressure. This allows it to fulfill the function of a pressure pipe independently. With its material composition, particularly its inner layer that is optimised for the transported medium, Primus Line® is tremendously durable and reaches a product life of at least 50 years.
